Background
Based on the Connecticut Shoreline
I have worked in public schools for 16 years as a Special Education teacher at both the middle school and high school levels, with most of those years spent running life skills programs. My focus has been on creating appropriate academic programming and meaningful vocational opportunities. I truly value the time I spend working one-on-one with my students, as well as collaborating with families and the entire educational team to develop a holistic approach that addresses each individual’s unique needs.
I’ve developed and taught social, life, and vocational skills programs in the community for students ages 8 to 17, and have also worked with adults with diverse abilities as a life skills coach. In addition to my professional experience, I’ve had the opportunity to work with educational teams in the role of a parent, advocating for and supporting the development of appropriate educational and transition plans for my own child.
Philosophy
I am deeply committed to helping neurodivergent individuals and those with diverse learning needs by ensuring they receive the meaningful opportunities they deserve. My goal is to help each learner cultivate and realize their full potential through engaging, respectful experiences that promote growth, contribution and a sense of purpose. I believe that collaboration is essential.
Effective partnerships with families, educators, administrators and support teams play a vital role in building successful educational and career pathways. Every learner deserves an individualized and appropriate path that values their strengths, fosters their engagement, and empowers them to be active, contributing members of their schools and community.
Committed to providing support to:
School Districts • Special Education Departments • Community Organizations and Non-profits • Families and Transition-Age Individuals
